Rwanda and Burundi are two very small countries in the heart of central Africa. If you look at a map, they are just to the right of Congo (DRC) and Uganda and Tanzaniya are on the other side. You can see a lake called Lake Tanganyika. My family and I are working as missionary/development workers in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi which is right next to the Lake. We see a lot of hippos when we go down there for a swim!I was a dancer and choreographer before I started working with MCC last year. I couldn't have been too famous if you have never heard of me :-)

I am from the USA originally but my family and I are serving in Burundi as Country Representatives for a Christian mission organization called MCC (Mennonite Central Committee). We work on helping people of different ethnic groups to live in peace with each other by sharing with them the love of Christ.
We also help them find ways to come up with their own solutions to fight poverty.

Paul thanks for the comments, the student's were quite surprised today to learn someone from outside of our school had answered their questions. Especially someone living in Africa. I'm sure they'll have many more questions. Again thank you for answering all these questions. :-)

1) Parents are killed as a result of ethnic conflict.
2) Parents die of AIDS.
Pretty much every Burundian family I have met, rich or poor are taking care of at least 1-4 orphans who are relatives of theirs.
