Grade 5 Unit of Inquiry Site

Grade 5 Teachers & Students  //  For Unit Two,

We're inquiring into how unequal or irresponsible distribution or sharing of finite natural resources can lead to conflict, and how we can resolve and manage conflict.

We need to understand first of all how all resources and humans are all connected, what the different perspectives are about sharing, and how we can be responsible for one another.

Thanks for sharing your ideas, perspectives, and new understanding!

Child Soldiers

Posted by email

I think that I am very lucky/happy that I am in this family because some
poor families in Africa send their children to war so that their parents can get
money.
After I read some websites, it said that sometimes they let their children
decide if they want to go war and become child soldiers or not.
My question is, "If the parents are sending their children to war to make
money, why don't the parents go to war and become a soldier?"

Clean Water

I think that clean water is very important to your body, because if you
don`t drink, you will be very thirsty, and in poor countries that don`t
have much food and drinks, is going to starve to death. Poor people are
drinking dirty water get sick, and sometimes some people will die by
drinking dirty water!!!!

Child Soldiers

After I read some websites about a organization that helps Child Soldiers,
I felt I was vey lucky to be born in a good country with no Child Soldiers.
One question is that "How do the children feel when the are fighting?"

I was wondering what kind of things and processes organisations go through
to help child soldiers. Also, around how many child soldiers can they
actually help?

My opinion about clean water is... I think that clean water is important
to your body, because If you don`t drink clean water, you are going to be
very thirsty and in poor countries that don`t have food and clean water,
they are going to starve to death! So the poor people have to drink dirty
water that makes you very sick, and sometimes some people die by drinking

and 3 meals a day and some other things which I'd call a bonus. These kids
with Famine problems prbably are starving to death, and that just gives me
sad thoughts.
